Dr. Abraham Mulwo currently serves as the Head of the Department of Communication Studies at Moi University, Kenya, where he has taught Communication Theory and Development Communication for the past 12 years. He graduated with a PhD in Communication and Media Studies (University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) in 2010 and has undertaken further training with several institutions including WHO/Geneva Foundation for Medical and Educational Research (Geneva), CODESRIA (Harare), OSSREA (Dar es Salaam) and CARTA (Dar es Salaam/Johannesburg). He has previously worked as a researcher with UNESCO/Ministry of Education (Kenya) and the Centre for AIDS Development, Research and Evaluation (South Africa). Mulwo has published widely in the general area of Development Communication. He has recently completed a project titled “Critical perspectives on New Media and Social Change in the Global South
 
” which was undertaken jointly with 10 scholars from seven Scandinavian universities. Dr. Mulwo has a strong interest in the areas of Participatory Communication, New Media and Civic Engagement, and Social Change Communication.
