My name is Bontle Masilo, I studied for a bachelors’ degree in Social Sciences (Political Science and Public Administration) and a Master of Arts in International Relations at the University of Botswana. I later completed an MSc Social Research Methods at the University of Sussex where I am also currently enrolled for a PhD in International Relations. My PhD research focuses on the role of civil society organisations in the Basarwa (San) struggle against their relocation from the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Professionally, I am a lecturer at the University of Botswana in the department of Political and Administrative Studies. I teach political science courses and have previously taught the following courses; Media and Politics, Botswana Politics and Introduction to Political Science.

My research interests are in the areas of indigenous peoples and liberal governmentality; adaptability and resistance; and media and democracy with a focus on how social media might constrain or deepen democracy. I am also interested in how the new media would shape electoral laws in Africa.
